Reminder! Final call for abstracts (7 February, 2019) for a special ReN symposium: CLIL as a Multili
In collaboration with the upcoming conference Cross-Curricular Language Learning: Putting CLIL into Practice (Sheffield Hallam University, 21-22 June, 2019), the ReN seeks abstracts to form a symposium special event as part of the second day of the conference. This biennial conference is aimed at issues for CLIL in predominantly Anglophone contexts. For information on the main conference see: https://www.shu.ac.uk/about-us/academic-departments/institute-of-education/events/cross-curricular-language-learning-2018
Our ReN symposium will engage with issues around “CLIL as a multilingual space”. This could include, for example, research focused on CLIL in multilingual classrooms, translanguaging, or the teaching and learning of content in very heterogenous linguistic settings. Proposals that include attention to digital technologies within such contexts are especially welcome.
The symposium will comprise 3-5 presentations of approximately 20 min each, followed by discussion of implications for how our research network can continue to move forward building this work.
Submissions will be evaluated on the basis of relevance to the symposium theme, details of the data used and/or theoretical framing, relevance for the expected target audience.
Decisions will be made by 10 February, 2019. Unsuccessful symposium submissions will have an opportunity to re-submit to the main conference for consideration a standalone presentation by 18 February, 2019.
